Color Studies
When I encountered a grease-stained paper bag in the street, I started to reconsider foundational materials in oil-based printmaking: oil and ink. This happenstance sparked a series of Color Studies that delve into a sensual, provocative, and imaginary space expressed by oil saturated paper. Through color and scale, this process revealed dramatic abstractions conveying emotive gestures amid a kaleidoscopic landscape. In effect, Color Studies imbued a seemingly inconsequential material and moment with mercurial feeling.
